Wylie-owned pair remain favourite after publication of Grand National weights

As any fan of bet365 racing online will appreciate, Andrea and Graham Wylie have enjoyed tremendous success as National Hunt owners over the last decade with the likes of three-time World Hurdle winner Inglis Drever and the tremendously talented Tidal Bay amongst a host of smart horses who have carried their colours.

Following the publication of the John Smith’s Grand National weights the Wylie’s remain the envy of many other jumps owners having both Prince de Beauchene and On His Own set to represent them at Aintree on April 6. Sadly though, their top-weight Tidal Bay, the horse who many felt was well in despite 11st 10lbs, was announced a definite non-runner in ‘the world’s greatest steeplechase’ after suffering a stress fracture during training and will be out for the rest of the season, with that news rocking those who had backed the horse in the horse racing betting offers.

Prince de Beauchene had been strongly fancied for last season’s Grand National after putting up a sparkling trial performance at Fairyhouse last February when landing the Grade 2 At The Races Bobbyjo Chase by six-lengths from the popular Black Apalachi, but an injury ruled him out for the rest of last term much to the disappointment of his owners.

Clearly back to full fitness the gelded son of French Glory proved his wellbeing on his only outing so far this term winning over hurdles at Limerick’s Christmas fixture, and after being allotted 11st 3lbs the Willie Mullins-trained 10-year-old remains ante-post Grand National favourite at general odds of 10/1.

On His Own, also trained by Mullins, has been handed an attractive racing weight of 10st 10lbs, last year’s Thyestes Chase hero bidding to prove how unlucky he was at Aintree last season when arguably travelling as well as anything in third place when coming to grief at Bechers second time round. A thorough stayer who handles most ground conditions, On His Own is 12/1 second-favourite for the big race giving Andrea and Graham Wylie an enviably strong hand as they bid for their first victory in the race that means so much to them both.
